Stating that there are no other options, the Eagle County School District had to take over the Maloit Park school building in order to accommodate the more than 200 students from the Red Sandstone Elementary School that will be displaced during the rebuilding of the school.

Unfortunately, that displaces the area that the Eagle County Community Fund has utilized for its annual “Rummage Sale” since 1993. Also unfortunately, due to no other available space for the annual event, the Eagle County Community Fund will have to end its 53 year run of fund-raising. In recent years, more than $200,000 has been given to various needy groups within the Eagle County environs. However, though the decision was a difficult one, the School District needs the land to be able to place modular classrooms in order to accommodate the Red Sandstone students during the rebuild (the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy will take over the “modules” when the Red Sandstone students return to their rebuilt school in Vail).
