Eagle to Join Regional Fiber Optic Project

By In Uncategorized On April 2, 2019

In a 4-3 Town Board vote, The town of Eagle will join Project THOR, a “middle mile” broadband project.  Coordinated by the Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, THOR will create a 178 mile fiber-optic loop around northwest Colorado.  Eagle’s portion of the $2.5 million dollar project is currently $308,909.  This amount will go down if more entities join or if Eagle can connect other local entities.  Board members have been unsuccessful in convincing Comcast or Century Link to provide this type of service to town.  Project THOR will eventually allow for homes and businesses to connect through local internet providers.
