A proposal to build more “employee” housing in the Vail area, was given its “first reading” approval by the Town of Vail Town Council earlier in the final month of 2017.  The second phase of the proposed Mountain View Residences, located just east of the Vail Village Transportation Center, is designed to create 15 new condominiums (with 20 “lock-off” units) and 15 apartments.  The new structure would be built atop of an existing private parking structure that, now, serves the 23-unit first phase of the Mountain View Residences.

The overall development project has had its share of concerns as homeowners in the first phase of the project were opposed to the additional plan.  As well, Council feels that there needs to be some changes to the plan when it comes back for its final approval vote.
