Stating that they are “more than field science programs for kids”, the Walking Mountains Science Center has grown exponentially since they first opened their office above Pazzo’s Pizza in Avon; having moved from their original site in the town of Red Cliff.

The “kids programs” are still at the heart of what they do; but, they also teach green behavior to businesses, run seminars and gatherings about sustainability and other science and environment groups. With projections to have more than 100,000 people participating in their programs this coming year and the fact that the waiting list for local school kids is more than 1,000, they need more room.

To satisfy the need, Walking Mountains is looking to build additional classrooms, office space and “graduate fellow” housing. Leading the donations for this ambitious campaign are many of the former donors including Oscar Tang and the Tang Family, the Precourt Mountain Discovery Center and the Borger-Precourt Center for Sustainability.
